Original project combining vector design, geometry, and Arduino. Students use Adobe Illustrator to create unique designs for the pentagonal faces. Those designs are then cut from birch plywood and white translucent acrylic using a laser cutter. The interior of the lamp is constructed from laser cut chip board and 3D printed TPU vertices. An adhesive, addressable LED is placed on each chip board surface and soldered into a sequence. The chain of LEDs are then fitted around the vertices and the pentagonal faces are attached to the exterior. Once assembled students are introduced to programming for the Arduino as they explore different colors, patterns, and animations.
